I have been a Christian business coach and licensed professional counselor for  almost ten years since leaving the corporate business world.  As I worked with other Christian business owners a common theme emerged.  Many had difficulty integrating their faith and professional values into their business.

Christian living was a part of all areas of their life except their businesses.  I really wanted to help business owners break through the misconceptions that Christian businesses face in competing in today’s competitive environment.

Christian Business Crossroads is my blog that focuses on business built on Christian values.  My experience and philosophy is that if you are going to be successful in small business, you must incorporate your faith into all aspects of your business.

I write about vision, mission, building your team, creating systems, sales, marketing and, most importantly, leadership, all from a perspective of a God view and what the bible says about business and life.

In doing this, a variety of christian themes emerge such as trust, faith, fear, prayer, and biblical wisdom.  And, as a licensed counselor, I try to address the real aspects of stress, anxiety and depression that may impact us in trying to run a small business on our own.

My goal is to provide a Christian perspective to the realities that small business owners face in the marketplace and  provide insight, ideas, and resources.

Resources and Training products available directly from me will combine traditional business building experience and direction, with a distinct Christian vantage point.

If you aren’t sure how business coaching can help you, please contact me so we can discuss.

I typically post two to three times a week.  To make sure you don’t miss the newest posts you can subscribe via RSS or email on the sidebar.

MY BIOGRAPHY

I earned my undergraduate degree in Finance at Louisiana State University in 1986.  In 1993 I completed my Masters in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing.  This was followed in 2004 with a Masters in Education – Community Counseling.

I started my business career in finance.  After a brief stint in banking I was hired as a financial analyst at a regional consumer packaged goods company – coffee.  I spent a total of twelve years at this 70+ regional market share coffee company and served as financial analyst, Finance Manager, Marketing Research Manager, Marketing Manager, Corporate Controller, Vice President and Director of the Coffee House Division, and even interim CFO.

My strong experience in finance, combined with my passion for marketing, provided for opportunities in various areas of the company, culminating as the head of a new operating division of gourmet coffee houses.  This was a start-up division with a very different culture than the traditional grocery store and office coffee divisions.

In leading the coffee house division I found my entrepreneurial home.  It was just like starting your own business, with good capital backing.  Everything from product design, store design, construction, building a team from scratch, developing policy and procedures, managing sales and profits; it was an entrepreneurial MBA!

I later went on to running a new restaurant concept before leaving the corporate world to go back to graduate school and earn my Masters in Community Counseling.  You see I found God somewhere towards the end of my tenure at the coffee company.  I felt God calling me to a different path.  I didn’t take the absolute straightest path, but soon left the corporate world, earned my license as a professional counselor, and went on to start a Christian business coaching and counseling practice.

God opened many doors and provided me with opportunities to work under other Christian counselors, pastors and even be on staff at my church for a couple of years.  This helped complete my education and experience in biblical knowledge and Christian values.

Ten years later, as an Elder and Ministry leader in my church, I have combined what I know about business to what I have learned about walking with God.  I believe in building business on a foundation of Christian values.  I have done it in my business and helped many other Christians in business.

I have been married for 23 years and have 3 children in high school.  We live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I enjoy my family, my two miniature dachshunds, reading, acrylic painting, cooking and the stock market.
